The first thing a fresh installation opens is a worked example: programmes, branches, student groups, courses, lecturers, rooms and a full week already scheduled. You are not looking at an empty grid and wondering where to start, and you are not waiting for anybody to send you anything.
From there it behaves like any other desktop application that owns its own file format. File → New starts an empty timetable, File → Load opens one, Save writes it wherever you choose, and the installer registers .xml so a timetable opens by double-clicking it. Break the sample, regenerate it, save it under another name, or throw it away and start again — it is a file on your own machine and nothing about it is metered.
This is the honest way round. An evaluation should begin with the software doing something, not with a form.
It is not a feature gate, and it is worth saying so plainly because most software of this kind uses one. The key tells the application which database belongs to your institution and where to find it. Everything above runs without it.
The database is what the shared, published side of the system needs — and only that side: publishing to the web, the student and lecturer portals, the mobile apps, several planners working on one timetable at once, the REST API and scheduled automation. None of those can read a file sitting on one person's laptop, which is the whole reason a database exists in the first place.
You can see that side without installing anything: the live web demo is a real instance, and the mobile apps are free in both app stores. When you reach the point of wanting your own trial database rather than a demonstration of somebody else's, ask us and we will set one up — that is a conversation, not a queue.
You do not need us to install it or to open the sample. But if you would rather be shown: we will join you online, install it with you, open the sample timetable and take you through a first generation — and if you have a slice of your own data ready, we will import it while you watch.

The sample timetable is a real one and it is enough to judge how the application behaves. What it cannot show you is how your week behaves — and that is the question your committee will actually ask. Export one faculty's courses, rooms and lecturers to Excel and import that over the sample; our support team will help you map the columns at no charge, and the Importing Companion documents every column before you start.
If you would rather not spend the time, a tailored online presentation covers the same ground in forty-five minutes and we do the driving. Most institutions do both: a demo first to decide whether it is worth pursuing, then their own data to convince the rest of the committee.
