Wise Booking System troubleshooting
Something does not look right? Find the symptom - the likely cause and what to do are beside it.
Symptoms, causes and what to do
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| My colleagues cannot see my booking. | It is waiting for approval; or Show on the public screens was unticked; or its type is not public. | Check its state in My bookings; open it and look at the type and the tick. |
| The Booking button is greyed out. | The institution lets only administrators book, or web booking is closed for now. | Point at the button: its tooltip says which. Ask the booking office. |
| “You may not book that room.” | Your record lists the rooms you may book, or the room is reserved for other roles. | The message names the rooms you may book; ask the booking office for more. |
| The time I want is not offered. | Start and end are the institution's time slots. | Choose the nearest slots; ask the booking office if a slot is missing. |
| The room looks empty but the check says taken. | A booking waiting for approval, or a private booking, holds it. | Use the suggestions, or Book anyway if the overlap is intended. |
| I changed an approved booking and it waits again. | A change needs approval again. | Nothing to fix; the room stays held while it waits. |
| “Wrong username or password.” | A typing error, or no password yet. | Ask an administrator to set a new password. |
| “Too many sign-in attempts from this connection.” | Several failed attempts from one network – often a whole building. | Wait a few minutes and try again. |
| Microsoft: “no lecturer at this school has that e-mail address”. | The e-mail on your record differs from your Microsoft sign-in name. | The booking office corrects the e-mail under People. |
| Microsoft: the administrator has not approved the application. | The one-time consent is missing. | Your Microsoft 365 administrator follows the IT guide. |
| No booking letters arrive. | Send mail was unticked, or the mailbox refuses. | Settings → Notifications → Send test e-mail; read the server's answer. Microsoft 365 tenants often disable SMTP sign-in. |
| Replies to letters go to Wise. | No reply address set. | Fill in the Reply address under Notifications. |
| My calendar never changes. | It was downloaded, not subscribed. | Subscribe instead of downloading the .ics file. |
| Calendar changes arrive late. | The calendar program decides how often to refresh. | Outlook and Apple can be set; Google cannot be hurried. |
| Calendar times are an hour out half the year. | The time zone is not set. | Set the school's time zone under Look & feel. |
| A signage screen shows an old state. | The network dropped; the screen says so. | Check the television's connection; the display recovers by itself. |
| A booking is missing on the signage. | Its type is not public, or it is not shown on the web. | Expected – signage shows only what is public. |
| I locked myself out of Settings. | Your name was removed from Who may edit these settings. | Another settings administrator, or Wise Support, restores it. |
