Feature note
Function keys and fast view switching
A small thing that experienced administrators use constantly and new ones usually never discover.
The slow way and the fast way
The obvious route is to select View on the main screen and then choose a tutor, room, group, course or student. It works, and it is three interactions every time you want to check something.
When you are working on a single session and want to see the timetable of its tutor, its room or its group, function keys switch directly to the correct view for whatever is currently selected. One key, in context, without losing your place.
Why it matters more than it sounds
Checking availability before making a change is the single most repeated action in a timetabling office. Anything that turns three interactions into one, several hundred times a week, is worth the ten minutes it takes to learn.
The same principle applies to the conflict control tool: testing whether a swap is possible before attempting it saves far more time than any individual keystroke. More on conflict detection.
