Administration in a browser

Everything the desktop application does, done in a browser instead: courses, lecturers, rooms, programmes, students, bookings, availability, generation, reports and PDF or Excel output. Nothing to install, nothing to deploy. Use either, or both.

How to install in production

One key, entered once, on Settings → Misc → General. No ODBC data source, no connection string, and an installation that already works keeps its configuration. Written for the person who has to do it.

Several planners on one timetable

Two or three people can build the same timetable at the same time. Ownership is taken per course so nobody overwrites anybody, changes appear within ten seconds, and it is switched on once for the whole institution. Includes the free 12-page manual.

Booking and examinations

Room booking system

Lecturers reserve labs, meeting rooms and consultation slots themselves, restricted to the rooms they are entitled to, with an optional approval queue. Fully integrated with the central timetable so nothing double-books.

Web booking module

One address doing two jobs: a timetable anyone reads without an account, and a booking system staff sign in to. Carries your branding, reads the live schedule, and checks every date a repeating booking would fall on before it reserves anything.

Exam scheduling

A dedicated final-examination module with seating plans and invigilator assignment, respecting minimum gaps between papers and student-level clash rules across the whole cohort.

Student attendance

Attendance recorded from a rotating QR code projected in the room or shown on the lecturer's laptop, reconciled against the timetable automatically. No hardware, no register call.

Keeping it current

Modifying timetables

Change rooms, lecturers or programmes with a few clicks, and see the effect propagate across the whole timetable transparently.

Moving to the next year

One screen for the summer: seed next year's database from this one, keep the rooms and lecturers, drop last year's schedules — and hold a room booking for a conference two years out.

Reporting changes

Everyone affected by a change is notified automatically, by email and by push notification in the mobile apps.

Substitutions and cover

Calendar subscriptions

One feed per lecturer and one per room, written nightly for the whole year, so a timetable keeps itself up to date inside Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar without anybody re-issuing anything.

Digital signage displays

Departure-board style output for campus screens, updating automatically as the timetable changes.

Web reports

Room utilisation, lecturer workload, unallocated sessions and custom reports, in the browser or exported.

Local output

PDF and Excel output with fully customisable layout and content, for printing, archiving and committee papers.

Online meeting links

Teams, Zoom or Meet addresses held on the room, the subject or a single lesson, with the order that decides which wins set per programme — and resolved identically on the web, the apps, the emailed schedule and paper.

Infrastructure and integration

SIS integration and API

A documented REST API for inbound and outbound connections, plus scheduled synchronisation with your student information system, HR system and institutional databases. Single sign-on through Shibboleth and comparable systems.

Timetable REST API

Schedules, events, rooms, lecturers, courses, holidays and notifications as JSON over HTTPS, with ETag caching and documented error codes. The service description answers without a login and the manual is published in full.

Cloud hosting

Full cloud hosting on AWS with daily backups and regional distribution for local performance, or complete on-premises installation where data must not leave your network.

Connecting faculties

Join the separate timetables of faculties and departments in one university: map their differing names, synchronise across different time grids, and see lecturer and room availability across all of them.
