Requirements European vendors usually miss
None of these are exotic. They are simply absent from software designed exclusively around a Central European academic year.
Gender-segregated teaching is the clearest example. Where male and female sections are taught separately, in designated buildings, sometimes by designated staff, the timetable must treat that as a hard constraint rather than a labelling convention. Wise Timetable handles it through room locks, group structure and lecturer restrictions that generation must respect.
The working week is the second. A Friday and Saturday weekend, or a Friday-only weekend, is a configuration rather than a customisation — university working hours, both primary and extended, are defined per institution.
The third is Ramadan. Shortened teaching days for a defined period, with a different session structure, are handled by generating a separate timetable for that period. The system supports an unlimited number of published timetables, so a Ramadan schedule sits alongside the standard one rather than replacing it destructively.

Terminology and academic conventions
Gulf universities are overwhelmingly built on British academic conventions: UK-accredited programmes, UK and Australian branch campuses in Dubai, Sharjah and Doha, and registrars trained in that tradition. The vocabulary is timetable, lecturer, module and programme rather than the North American equivalents.
That matters practically as well as linguistically. It means the structures Wise Timetable was built around — programmes and years, modules, student cohorts, hard and soft constraints — map directly onto how Gulf institutions already organise themselves. There is no conceptual translation layer.
Hosting and data residency
Our cloud infrastructure is distributed across regions, which matters for performance: a student in Riyadh or Kuala Lumpur opening a timetable app should not be waiting on a round trip to central Europe.
Where regulation or institutional policy requires data to remain inside the country, we install entirely on your own infrastructure. On-premises is a fully supported deployment model with the same upgrades, support and account management, not a reluctant exception. Wise Technologies is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, which is generally what regional procurement asks to see.
Support across time zones
Every institution gets a named account manager, and in several regions support is also available locally through partner companies and distributors. Second-line technical issues go directly to the development team in Slovenia, whose working day overlaps comfortably with Gulf hours.

Regional questions
Is the interface available in Arabic?
The interface is localised into 16 languages, and all Unicode languages are supported for institutional data — so programme names, module titles, staff names and room names can be held and published in Arabic regardless of interface language. Tell us your requirement when you contact us and we will confirm exactly what is available for your deployment.
Can the system handle gender-segregated teaching?
Yes. Segregation is enforced through the same mechanisms as any other hard constraint: student group structure, room locks restricting sections to designated rooms or buildings, and lecturer restrictions where staff are assigned to specific sections. Generation treats these as inviolable, so a violating placement is reported as unallocated rather than silently produced.
Can data stay inside our country?
Yes. Full on-premises installation places all data inside your own network and under your own control. This is a standard deployment option with identical functionality, support and upgrade terms to cloud hosting.
